The Iranian Version Of Ahmad Chalabi

In what The Peach finds to be the initial verbal sparks to a possible invasion of Iran by the United States, the British journal The Guardian is reporting that "Iran has secretly manufactured around 4,000 centrifuges capable of weapons grade uranium enrichment." Unfortunately, The Peach has found that the British paper is using information supplied by a rather questionable source, who habitually portrays a tenser and more threatening atmosphere in Iran than may actually exist.

The source of this dangerously dubious piece of evidence is none other than Iranian exile and dissident Alireza Jafarzadeh. Mr. Jafarzadeh runs the Washington based Strategic Policy Consulting group, a group notoriously known for supplying misinformation to that proud purveyor of misinformation the Fox News Network, in order to ultimately forward their own political agenda.

For example, in July 2004 Jafarzadeh appeared on Fox News as their official "foreign affairs analyst" to sound the war drums that Iran was a major participant in the 9/11 attacks and that Iran was a major contributor to the insurgency in Iraq. In the past two years the SPC has been cited no less than nineteen times by Fox News, supporting such stories as "Iran Enemy Number One?" and "Iran: The Nuclear Threat." Interestingly, in each of these reports Jafarzadeh appears as a "foreign affairs analyst" with no mention of his affiliation with the SPC.

The Peach sees Jafarzadeh as the Iranian version of that notorious Iraqi liar Ahmad Chalabi, whose sole intent was to fuel the overthrow of Saddam Hussein by reinforcing lies about WMD's and, curiously enough, Iraq's nuclear intentions. The Peach hopes that in this instance Bush will ignore the irresponsible reports by the Fox freaks and their so-called sources, and support more diplomatic measures in its handling of Iran.
